Abstract

The study was conducted in order to assess the utilization of information and communication technology (ICT) in teaching and learning of Agricultural Science in Science Secondary Schools in Katsina, Katsina State, two objectives were formulated and two hypotheses were also formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance, a descriptive survey design was used, the population for the study was 8,820 made up of staff and students of Science Secondary Schools spread across the state 2025/2026 session. A questionnaire tagged Information and Communication Technology Resource Utilization Questionnaire (ICTRUQ) which had a 4 points varying scale was used to collect information from the respondents. The data collected was analyzed in two stages in the first stage mean was used to answer the research questions and Pearson Product Moment Coefficient correlation (PPMC) was used to test the null hypothesis. However, (strongly agreed and agreed were merged together as agreed while strongly disagreed and disagreed were merged as disagreed). In the analysis a mean of 1.6 was recorded for those who agreed and 2.1 for those who disagreed with the fact that there is the presence of ICT materials and facilities in science secondary schools in the state. While in analyzing the null hypothesis a value of 15.609 and 19.515 respectively were recorded r-Cal was 0.415 greater than crit r 0.184 at 0.05 level of significance all in favor of disagreed. The researcher recommended among others that ICT facilities such as computer internet services and other facilities should be provided sufficiently by the state government for use by both staff and students in the science secondary schools in the state.
